The African Black Coalition was created in 2003 by Black students within the University of California system, who found the low admittance and retention rates of Black students intolerable. They work towards liberation for all African and African-American people.

"If I was to give advice to a freshman coming in to a university, I would say-- 

Don't procrastinate, and if you are moving away from home, try to find a church-home. It will help you in the long run, especially being in a new area."

• Starting College

• Joining the Black Student Union (BSU)

• Starting the second semester on the BSU Board as Membership Coordinator

• Passing my classes both semesters

• Attending the African Black Coalition Conference: "There I learned a great deal about black history and heightened my knowledge of human rights."
