Nour Homsi 2017
"One of my best moments happened to me since I came to United States is receiving my first scholarship from Sister De Von (DJM).
This scholarship is so meaningful to me because I received it at the instant I felt I was rejected by The United States. I was not qualified for FAFSA neither Dream ACT program (both are financial aid
programs for students) since I was an "illegal immigrant" (green card approved but had not yet arrived), and didn't live in US for at least three years.
My father's salary was not enough to cover college
fees and tuition. After few days of knowing that I
was not qualified for FAFSA, I received an email
from Sister De Von informing me that I was the
DJM Scholarship Recipient for 2017.
At that moment, that feeling of being not welcomed was vanished and I felt I was accepted. The Scholarship helped me to pay for all of my books
and reduce the payments for my classes. Now I
feel very motivated to apply for more scholarships."
